US Interrobang Filmfest awards Iran short film ‘Lunch Time’

Iranian short film ‘Lunch Time’ wins award at the US Interrobang Film Festival.

Iranian short film ‘Lunch Time’ brings home award at the Interrobang Film Festival in the US state of Iowa.

Directed by Alireza Ghasemi, the film was announced as Best Short award winner at the American event.

Alireza Qasemi’s short film ‘Lunch Time’ was placed among the official selections for Court Metrage of the 70th Cannes Film Festival held in May.

Qasemi commented on the idea behind 'Lunch Time', saying that “it comes from my childhood memory at the age of 8 when I went to a hospital restaurant.” He added, “At that time a family who lost a loved one were crying while others were busy eating their lunch and such contradiction had always been on my mind till it turned" to this film.

The 15-min film is about a high school girl who goes to the hospital to identify the body of her mother who has recently passed away.

The Interrobang Film Festival is a three-day multi-venue event taking place in the Des Moines East Village Neighborhood, Iowa.

The fest offers screenings of selected int'l films as well as presenting hands-on workshops among other activities.
